How to Import Brazilian Chicken Paws into Hong Kong
Hong Kong is a free port and one of the busiest re-export gateways for chicken paws heading into mainland China. Getting the licensing and re-export chain right is what keeps cargo moving.
Free port entry, but licensing still applies
As a free port, Hong Kong generally does not levy an import tariff on frozen chicken paws. That does not remove the regulatory step: importers of frozen meat need the relevant import licence and registration issued by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) before cargo can be released. Brazilian shipments still need to arrive with the standard veterinary/health certificate and certificate of origin, in line with the wider documentation set covered in how to import chicken paws from Brazil.
Kwai Tsing terminals and reefer logistics
The Kwai Tsing container terminals handle the bulk of Hong Kong's reefer traffic, with cold-store facilities and onward transport links for cargo destined for local distribution or re-export. Shipments from Brazil move under CIF reefer terms, with temperature maintained at −18 °C for the full transit.
Re-exporting into mainland China
A large share of chicken paws landed in Hong Kong is re-exported into mainland China. That onward movement does not bypass mainland requirements: the originating Brazilian plant still needs to be GACC-eligible for the cargo to clear customs once it crosses into the mainland. See our dedicated guide on chicken paws for China for the mainland-side requirements.
